Our Thoughts: Testing has showed that placement of the base is critical to avoid interference. You can have two bases, and business clients have been combining a #2420 2-line with Telephone/Speakerphone/Answering Machine Base, with a 2nd (non-answering machine model) base #2402. Next is the headset for handsfree use and the 2.5mm jack allows much the same as today's cellular phone headsets. ClearVox "over-the-ear" unit is hot @ $29.95.

Lastly, batteries! The units ship with the standard Ni-Cad, rated (by who we don't know) for 4 hours talk time on a 4-6-hour charge. We found 1-1.5 hour on real use and decided the Nickel-Metal Batteries (with 2-4 hours "talk time" & up to 72 hours "on-time") were more practical. While they require a 12 hour charge on initial use, they can quick recharge whenever you need, while Ni-Cad degrade when recharged anytime other than empty. The chargers have a compartment for a spare battery to charge while the handset is too.

                           is in at all times. Desk station and cordless handset
                           functions include call transfer, conference and intercom.

                           The Gigaset desk station's integrated digital answering
                           machine manages your calls when you're out, stores
                           messages for each line, and stamps the time, day and line
                           number of recorded calls. You may also record up to
                           five different outgoing messages. Menu options guide
